A neuropsychological assessment provides a comprehensive view of someone’s thinking (cognitive), emotional, social, behavioral, and academic abilities. Most people know that it involves completing standardized test measures and questionnaires. But testing is only a small part of the process. 

To obtain accurate diagnoses and to correctly answer specific questions, we always consider the context of a client’s experience, developmental history, and medical factors. We will spend time getting to know you and/or your child. Then we combine this knowledge with a deep understanding of how the brain develops and functions across the lifespan to interpret the test results.

Evaluations also create a unique opportunity for an individual to achieve a better understanding of his or her unique strengths and weaknesses. For clinical evaluations, our feedback session, where we discuss the results and recommendations, is a critical part of the process. It is important for us to explain concepts in plain language and to give specific recommendations that can be implemented. We look forward to hearing from you.

Clinical Neuropsychological Evaluations
Evaluations can determine why someone is struggling in school, work, or other aspects of life. These are comprehensive evaluations that assess cognitive, emotional, behavioral, social, and in many cases, academic functions. They clarify an individual’s strengths and weaknesses and assist with differential diagnosis, considering any medical and developmental factors. Results will guide treatment or academic planning.

Clinical Consultation Services
When an individual has had multiple past evaluations, I may provide consultative services to answer specific questions related to diagnosis or recommendations. 

Developmental or Psychological Evaluations
When there are specific questions regarding a child’s cognitive or emotional abilities, developmental evaluations can determine whether services are needed and/or to help with school placement decisions.

Independent School Admissions Testing
Some independent schools require that a child complete certain psychological measures to be considered for admission. I am able to perform these measures and provide a written summary of the results to schools.

Legal and Independent Medical Evaluations
I have served as an expert consultant and witness for legal cases in criminal and civil settings. I have also completed independent medical evaluations (IMEs). I have knowledge and experience with special education law. Please contact me directly for further information.
